U506 Weir Structure

IDS provided engineering and surveying services for the proposed weir structure and supporting improvements for the regional detention basin U506 on Horsepen Creek. The construction plans depicted the construction of an overflow weir, construction of additional normal pool inflow pipes, backslope drainage system construction, minor grading of basin banks and amenity areas, construction of conduits for future water and power, and outfall construction.

Improvements were made to the existing basin in concurrence with the drainage report produced by a separate consulting firm. The proposed weir allowed for storm runoff to be conveyed into the detention basin from Horsepen Creek during major storm events and therefore reduced peak flow rates to Horsepen Creek. The proposed improvements also provided infrastructure for future park use.
