IDS Engineering Group Names Ken Easterling, P.E., CFM New Director of Water Resources
Ken Easterling, P.E., CFM, joins civil engineering and surveying firm IDS Engineering Group (IDS) as its Director of Water Resources. An experienced specialist in water resources, Easterling brings more than 21 years of knowledge in complex flood control systems.
In his new role, Easterling will lead the Hydraulic and Hydrology (H&H) Department and will conduct H&H engineering designs for water resource projects, including but not limited to, stormwater detention basins, open channel design, floodplain analysis, storm sewer design, and watershed planning for public and private clients.
“Ken brings an in-depth expertise in the hydrologic cycle,” says Tim Buscha, P.E., CFM, President of IDS Engineering Group. “In this role, he will solve complex water resource problems and oversee the continued expansion of our H&H Practice.”
Prior to joining IDS, Easterling served as a project engineer at Easterling Consultants LLC, where he performed H&H technical work in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma. He was responsible for the primary design and analyses contact for all dams in the Clear Creek Watershed (75 wet dam) for both engineering and emergency management purposes.
Early in his career, Easterling developed a review process to update all the HEC-HMS and RAS models for the Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). Additionally, he built the first detention storage database for HCFCD.
“IDS is excited to work with Ken as our new Director of Water Resources.” Buscha says. “We are confident IDS’ H&H Practice will be well positioned under his guidance.”
Easterling holds a Bachelor of Science in Ocean Engineering from Texas A&M University (College Station, Texas) and a Master of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University (College Station, Texas).
